Hi there! Let me share some tips with you about caring for your clothes. In this guide, I’ll share some simple yet effective tips on washing, drying, and storing your clothes, with a special focus on one of our favorite fabrics: TENCEL™.
TENCEL™, which is truly a wonder fabric is made from wood pulp, often sourced from eucalyptus and the production process is eco-friendly and sustainable. It is incredibly soft, breathable, and drapes beautifully. The fabric feels luxurious while being gentle on the skin, which is why we love using it in our classic designs.
When it comes to washing TENCEL™, the key is balance. Unlike some delicate fabrics, TENCEL™ is surprisingly low-maintenance. You can wash it at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle just avoid high temperatures as they can weaken the fibers over time. I recommend using a mild, eco-friendly detergent to protect the fabric’s natural softness. It’s best to skip the fabric softener, too, as TENCEL™ doesn’t need it and it can actually coat the fibers, reducing their breathability.
After washing, shake your TENCEL™ pieces out gently to smooth out any creases. Air drying is the best option, as tumble dryers can be harsh on this fabric. Hang your garments on hangers while they’re still damp to maintain their shape and prevent wrinkles.
Storage is another important aspect of clothing care. For delicate fabrics, make sure your closet has enough space so the clothes can breathe. Overcrowding can lead to creasing and even damage to your garments.
Caring for your clothes might seem like a small task, but it makes a world of difference. At Meijerhof, we pour so much thought and effort into designing every piece, and with the right care, they’ll remain as beautiful as the day you bought them. Whether it’s TENCEL™ or another cherished fabric, showing your wardrobe a little extra love ensures it will stay with you for many seasons to come.
